The Green Party president of the Lyon metropolitan area, Bruno Bernard, denounced this Friday the " populism " of the deputies who recently voted for a series of anti-ecological measures.

The abolition of ZFEs, the Zero Net Artificialization (ZAN) system stripped of its substance, a moratorium on photovoltaics and wind turbines... The right and the far right have achieved significant victories in the National Assembly in recent days, facing a disorganized left and Macronie.

Votes that have considerably annoyed the Green president of the Lyon metropolitan area . During a press conference organized ahead of the metropolitan council meeting scheduled for Monday, June 23, Bruno Bernard spoke of a " worrying national context ," denouncing " a staggering level of populism and irresponsibility ." He thus described the moratorium on photovoltaic and wind power as a " farcical vote ." " I hope it never comes into effect ," he added.

Regarding the ZFE, the environmentalist believes that this measure is " bearing fruit " with " a significant reduction in pollution ." " For the first time, we have fallen below the 40 μg threshold for nitrogen dioxide at the ring road ," he recalled, while Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes warned earlier this week about the new European legislation of 2027 which will again lower regulatory thresholds.

No reason to throw away your Crit'Air sticker just yet, Bruno Bernard reminds us that a joint committee is due to take place in the autumn (it should nevertheless be favourable to the right), but also and above all, that " appeals to the Council of State will remain possible " after the fact. The court could very logically censor the measure since the abolition of ZFEs should be considered a "legislative rider". It has nothing to do with the initial intention of the text, which was to simplify economic life.

As a reminder, the Green mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, also reacted strongly to the (not yet finalized) abolition of the ZFE by denouncing a vote " against the health of the French " by " populist groups of all stripes ." A message that aroused the ire of the LFI deputy of Lyon, Anaïs Belouassa-Cherifi , who was absent during the vote but is a critic of the ZFE.

Regarding the ZAN, Bruno Bernard also defended the system, considering that " it is possible to develop industry and economic activities without concreting over natural land ." " We demonstrate this almost every week ," he said.
